Dr. Breytenbach is a young, energetic female plastic surgeon with a special interest in Breast Surgery. She studied MBChB at the University of Stellenbosch and proceeded to complete her Internship and Community Service at Wits University. She enrolled in Radiology for a year but decided that she missed patient contact and clinical medicine and started specializing in General Surgery in 2013 at Wits University, where she moved on to specialize in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Sefako Makgatho University in 2015.
She completed her studies in May 2019 and opened a private practice in December 2019 at the Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital. She enjoys research and obtained her MMed research in breast surgery which she presented at the European Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons Congress in Cyprus in 2018. She has always been passionate about Breast Cancer patients and the collaboration with Dr. Docrat and Dr. Khan owed naturally, as all of these women believe in going the extra mile for patients.
Dr. Breytenbach’s other interests include keloids, and she is an active member of the International Keloid Research Foundation as the Ambassador for South Africa. Her article; “Keloids in patients with Albinism” was published in the International Journal of Keloid Research, presented by her; in Rome, at the International Keloid Research Foundation congress. She believes in continuous education and has attended a number of local and international courses, where she often presented her research. She has won a gold medal twice at The Association of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons of Southern Africa Congress. Once for best case report and once for best article.
She firmly believes in family life, as a loving wife and mother.
